DAILY DEVOTIONS – FRIDAY AUGUST 14, 2020

Psalm 131:2 (NIV)  But I have stilled and quieted my soul;  like a weaned child with its mother,  like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Few skills are more essential than the ability to still and quiet ourselves.  If you can settle your heart by going to God’s throne and accessing His peace,  then you are more likely to be calm,  alert,  and fully present no matter what is going on around you.  Being at peace enables you to harmonize and connect with people around you,  encouraging them to settle and be peaceful as well.  If you gather together a large group of restless people you risk a mob or riot;  but bring together people who are settled in peace and you have a force for doing tremendous good in the world.  We have been called out of an unsettled world into a secure,  settled,  peace-ruled world where Abba Father is our protector and provider.  God provides us a hiding place  (Psa. 91:1),  where our perspective on life can align with God’s perspective and purposes.  Have you discovered it?  Have you learned how to still and quiet your soul before the Lord?
