DAILY DEVOTIONS – FRIDAY DECEMBER 3, 2021

Joshua 6:18 (The Message)

“As for you, watch yourselves in the city under holy curse.  Be careful that you don’t covet anything in it and take something that’s cursed, endangering the camp of Israel with the curse and making trouble for everyone.”

Joshua issued a strict order that the people were NOT allowed to take the spoils of fallen Jericho.  How does that apply to us today?  “Do not covet the world’s goods.  Understand that things we strive to get for ourselves will seriously weaken our walk with God.”*  “Everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world” (Gal. 5:16 NIV).  They were God’s people and were to live holy lives.  It is our lesson, too.
