Satan tempted Jesus in three spheres. In the wilderness, He was tempted in the sphere of need (4:1-4). On the mountain, He was tempted in the sphere of success (4:5-8). In the temple, He was tempted in the sphere of religion (4:9-12). Consider how you have been tempted in these three spheres. Also, keep in mind that often we make a fresh commitment to Christ, or we experience a high point in our walk with God (i.e., Jesus’ water baptism), only to walk out of that glorious space right into a place where Satan challenges us on multiple levels. James 4:7 – Resist the devil, & he will flee from you.
