DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY APRIL 19, 2021

Acts 1:8 (NIV)   (Jesus speaking to his disciples after the resurrection.)  “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Luke, a companion of the Apostle Paul, is the author of the book of Acts and an eyewitness to many of the incidents that he relates.  The book opens with the preaching of the gospel in Jerusalem (the ecclesiastical center of the Jewish nation) and closes with the preaching of the gospel in Rome (the political center of the world at that time).  Acts covers about 30 years and its focus is on the work of the Holy Spirit through the lives of Peter and Paul and others.  When Jesus ascended into heaven, it was not the end of the gospel story.  It continues to this day as the universal Church continues to spread the gospel throughout the world.  Through the ages, one by one, people have been embracing faith in Jesus Christ and discovering the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  What do we need in our world today?  We need hearts to be changed!  Christ offers peace, hope, solutions and divine direction.  Watch for opportunities to share your story of how faith in Jesus has redeemed your life.
