DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY AUGUST 10, 2020

Romans 15:13 (NIV)  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,  so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We serve the  “God of hope,”  and no matter what diagnosis or news report or opposition or disturbance comes our way,  we must fix our  eyes on the Lord and the truth that He gives to us in His Word.  Each day we must choose to place our trust in Him;  and as we do,  joy and peace settles into our hearts,  and the Holy Spirit causes us to  “overflow”  with hope.  Along about midnight,  Paul and Silas were at prayer and singing a robust hymn to God.  The other prisoners couldn’t believe their ears.  The jailer got a torch and ran inside.  Badly shaken,  he collapsed in front of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:26-29).  Some of the Jews who listened were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas (Acts 17:4).  Paul and Silas chose to respond to their dire circumstances with the joy that comes from trusting in the Lord.  It resulted in many people crossing the line of faith and choosing to follow Jesus Christ.  How do you respond to tough times?  It is your choice.  Honor the Lord.  Respond with hope-filled praise.
