DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY JUNE 15, 2020

Psalm 9:9 (NIV)  The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,  a stronghold in times of trouble.

There is an oppressive,  condemning voice,  an accusing voice that finds its way into the minds and hearts of every human being (…for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth—the one who accuses them before our God day and night”  Rev. 12:10).  You’ve heard it.  I’ve heard it.  It embeds a sense of rejection and insecurity into us with the purpose of derailing us from our divine destiny.  Sometimes it comes through the mouth of a parent to a child,  a teacher to a student,  a peer to an already insecure classmate.  It wounds and festers and breeds self-doubt.  There is no greater pain than that of rejection,  being uninvited.  That is why we must invite the Holy Spirit to realign our hearts to the truth.  Jesus always says,  “Come.”   God says,  “You are precious and honored in my sight” (Is. 43:4).  He says,  “Look,  I have written your name on the palms of my hands” (Is. 49:16).  When you feel like you are invisible,  forgotten,  unwanted,  run to the truth of God’s Word.  The LORD is your refuge and stronghold.  “Know the truth and it will set you free” (John 8:32).

(A great book on this topic: UNINVITED by Lysa TerKeurst.)
