John 10:10 (NIV) – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
From the moment we choose faith in Jesus Christ, He begins leading us into increased measures of freedom. Often, we have immediate deliverance from debilitating habits; but more often it is a gradual growth and discovery process that includes offloading fears and feelings of worthlessness, and the compulsions that drive self-consumptive behaviors. Jesus leads us out of emotional instability, insecurity, and loneliness, and into stable, loving, joyous, peaceful, gracious, contented, confident and radiant life! And beyond that, He leads us into a divine destiny that glorifies God and edifies people. I have experienced so much of this over my 50 years of following Jesus. Although I continue to learn and grow, I have discovered that the Holy Spirit is faithful to teach us through both God’s Word and daily experiences. Jesus has come to give us “a better life than we ever dreamed of” (The Message)—and I’m not talking about big houses and cars. I’m talking inner peace and joy greater than anything external.
