DAILY DEVOTIONS – THURSDAY JANUARY 21, 2021

Matthew 6:12 (NLT)  …and forgive us our sins,  as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

Is there someone you need to forgive?  Forgiving others is a truly spiritual act.  All of us are victimized from time to time.  God is good but life is not fair.  We will not be treated as we should be.  “We will not be thanked as much as we should be.  We will not be affirmed or appreciated as much as we deserve.  These things will happen in life.  The great danger is in bitterness and cynicism.  Unresolved resentment in our hearts will come out in ways that deeply undermine our capacity to thrive.  Far better to go into life and engage the work that God has called us to with the assumption that no one owes us anything (and that God will affirm and bless us in His time).  Only then can we begin to respond positively in setback,  difficult,  and disappointment.  Suffering is the real test of whether we transcend self-absorption and live for others.  Choose to become a means of grace to yourself and others.”
