DAILY DEVOTIONS – THURSDAY JULY 21, 2022

John 21:2-7, 16-17 (focus verse 17b) (NLT)  Jesus said (to Peter) “Then feed my sheep.”

We must not live in a post-resurrection world with a pre-resurrection faith.  It is one thing to have expectations of Jesus and quite another thing to understand His expectations of us.  Jesus was never in a hurry.  This thing called discipleship is a long walk in the same direction.  Some of the greatest lessons in life come not in the miracle moments, but in the journey process—walking with the Lord, being obedient, doing the right thing even when it’s hard.  The disciples never said,  “I will follow you for a while to see if it works out”  or  “I will follow for a while and then we’ll talk, but no promises.”  Likes and dislikes were not important because those disciples were on a mission to death.  Your life has an assignment.  It’s not safe or comfortable.  The enemy will target you.  You have a cross to carry.  There will be sacrifices to make.  So don’t cling to comfort.  Cling to Jesus.  Share your faith.  Feed the sheep.  (These are excerpts from Noemi Chavez at Potomac A/G LEAD Conference 2022)
