DAILY DEVOTIONS – THURSDAY MAY 20, 2021

[John 8:44]  He (Satan) was a murdered from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Satan traps us in cycles of distraction, distortion and pain.  His lies prevent us from recognizing the truth.  As we incubate his lies, they grow into strongholds in our minds.  They build walls that prevent truth from saturating or penetrating.  Those strongholds prevent transformation and liberation.  Jesus called him a liar—the  “father of lies”  and we need to recognize that reality.  Satan wants to be thought of as rational.  He is extremely subversive.  That is why it is critical that we examine the thoughts that continually run through our minds so that we can pick up on anything that is contrary to God’s Word, take it captive, and live free from its impact.  Jesus prayed for us:  “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth” (John 17:17 NLT).  Read it every day.  Read it with your heart.  The truth will set you free.
