DAILY DEVOTIONS – THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2021

Deuteronomy 3:2-4 (focus verse 4 NIV)  The Lord said to me, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you with his whole army and his land…”

The conquest of Canaan rested on the promises of God but did not exclude human exertion.  “Complete victory can be achieved only by complete obedience.  Defeating an enemy is not sufficient in itself; the promised possession must also be claimed and occupied.”  God’s goal for us goes beyond overcoming a single addiction, as wonderful as that is.  He wants us to enjoy a lifestyle of ever-increasing victories over multiple challenges.  Israel took not only King Og, but also all his cities and all his kingdom.  How does that apply to us?  Like the athlete who goes from strength to strength, God wants us to go from grace to grace.  How are you growing?  What has God handed to you?  What is the wider scope of that victory?
