Fear can be a destiny derailer. So many of the biblical narratives describe the experiences of ordinary people as they chose courage over fear (see Joshua 1). There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear (I John 4:18). When we know we are loved, fear melts. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5). Jill Briscoe says, “After obedience, the courage comes in.” Mary saw the angel, a supernatural unveiling, and she heard Gabriel’s words and was “deeply troubled” about what it would mean for her. It would mean a change in the trajectory of her life. It would mean heights and depths of experiences beyond what her young mind could possibly conceive at this stage of her life. But the angel equipped her with truth that she undoubtedly hid in her heart and that became a plumb line for the next 33 years of her life with Jesus. Do not yield to your fear. Yield to the love of God (read Ephesians 3:16-19) and you will find power to fulfill your divine destiny.
