DAILY DEVOTIONS – TUESDAY MARCH 15, 2022

Luke 3:21-22 (NIV)

When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too.  And as He was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love, with you I am well pleased.”

Here we see Father God giving His son, Jesus, public commendation.  In a visible and audible manifestation of affirmation, three of the greatest needs in human psychology were addressed: identity, belovedness, and appreciation.  The incarnate Son of God had taken on human form, with all its weaknesses; and here on the cusp of His earthly ministry, Jesus heard God lay down emotional foundational beams that would steady His humanity throughout the coming days of ministry challenge.  Where does the enemy hit us the hardest?  He challenges our identity, our belovedness, and our value—to God and to one another.  How many times have you heard the enemy whisper that you are unimportant, your work ineffective and unappreciated, and your life worthless?  Get back to the truth of what God says.  You are His beloved child and valuable with divine purpose.  When you see a dove, remember that!
