DAILY DEVOTIONS – TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 2020

John 5:46 (NIV)  If you believed Moses,  you would believe me,  for he wrote about me.

Moses,  who wrote Genesis during the forty wilderness years,  wrote about Jesus in Gen. 3:15:  He will crush your head and you will strike his heel.  “This statement is the inaugural declaration that God will triumph over Satan.  Seen prophetically,  God declares that one would come from a woman to fulfill this sentence of death on the devil” (Hayford,  page 5).  The  “seed”  of the woman who would bruise the serpent’s (Satan’s) head is Jesus Christ—the  “seed”  of Abraham mentioned by Paul in Galatians 3:16.  God’s redemption plan was established long before the foundations of the world were put in place (Eph. 1:4-10).  His plan was for us to be restored through Christ to the relationship mankind had before sin entered the world (Genesis 3)— “…to the place of destiny and dominion He chose for humankind from the beginning” (Hayford,  page 2).  Our world of war and sickness and heartache is the result of Satan’s rampage upon humanity—but the Spirit of God is at work calling us back to God and Jesus says:  “believe me.”
