DAILY DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY AUGUST 4, 2021

Exodus 20:22 – 23:33 (focus verse 20:22) (NIV)  Then the Lord said to Moses…

God gave to Moses everything recorded here.  It was an exposition of the Law but also described its application to their lives.  We must not read the Bible without inviting the Holy Spirit to give us its proper application.  It is  “God’s breath on a page”  that calls us to be a fully devoted people who love Him first and who also love others.  Jesus told the rich young ruler,  “If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you” (The Message).  Then Jesus added:  “give everything”  and the man left sorrowful, because  “He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and he couldn’t bear to let go” (The Message).  Application of God’s Word, doing what He says, living a fully-devoted life that is rooted in Him being our first love—this is the fulfillment of the Law and demonstrated in the life of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
