Luke 1:35 (KJV) The angel answered (Mary), “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the most High will overshadow you…”
This overshadowing is the same “hovering” that we read about in the Creation narrative when the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. Have you experienced a sense of God’s hovering Presence over your life? Are you aware when He is near? Are you sensitive to His leadership in your day-to-day, faith-meets-the-reality-of-my-life experience? …in the shadow of His hand hath He hid me” (Isaiah 49:2 KJV). Don’t neglect His Presence through preoccupation with other interests (Luke 2:41-46). Make room for the Presence of God in your life by eliminating things that merely clutter your life and waste your time. Protect the Presence of God against the encroachment of things that are incompatible with His Presence and tend to displace it. Develop a sensitivity to and respond to the invitation of the Lord—don’t be reluctant to respond to His approach because it may seem inconvenient. Let the Lord “spread His shadow of power over you” (TPT). It will cause spiritual growth within you and “rivers of living water” flowing out from you (John 7:38).
