DAILY DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY JANUARY 27, 2021

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)  Seek the Kingdom of God above all else,  and live righteously,  and He will give you everything you need.

How do we live a well-ordered life that enables us to thrive?  “First,  we have to sustain a clear sense of what really matters and what is truly important.  Invariably,  a disordered life is but a symptom of a lack of clarity about priorities and purpose.  Our sense of what is important is rooted first and foremost in the fundamental call to be Christian.  Nothing is more important than our growth in faith,  hope,  and love…then our daily agenda should consistently reflect what we are being called to do in this place at this time.”  We can’t do everything,  so we have to accept our limitations and live with grace that there will be interruptions,  delays and unforeseen developments in our day.  What does this moment call for?  “Don’t take on more than you can fulfill with a calm and serene heart,  without rushed busyness.”  Also,  create margins between activities—margins that give you space to think,  plan,  and converse so that you are  “centered and at peace with yourself”  as you go through your day.  These are lessons we learn as we experience life with all its challenges.  Through it all,  God is near.  He is our peace (Eph. 2:14).  Wait upon the Lord and renew your strength (Isaiah 40:31).  He will teach you how to thrive in a well-ordered life.
