DAILY DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY MAY 6, 2020

Genesis 2:16 (MSG) –  God commanded the Man,  “You can eat from any tree in the garden except from the Tree-of-Knowledge-of-Good-and-Evil.  Don’t eat from it.  The moment you eat from that tree,  you’re dead.”

THE TRUTH here is that God is a generous God.  Only one tree had a  “Keep Off”  sign posted. And that was for the best interest of Adam and Eve.  Their obedience would guarantee long-term blessings and happiness.  It also provided them an opportunity to exercise their free will,  to make good choices and walk in obedience to God’s Word.  Every day that they passed that tree they had a fresh opportunity to choose obedience and a relationship with God.  Do you have a  “tree”  in your life that you must say  “no”  to every day?  Alcoholism.  Pornography.  Adultery.  Gossip.  Dishonesty.  Bitterness.  Covetousness.  What’s your  ”tree”?  Daily choices either move us toward freedom or away from it.  Reach for Jesus’  hand and let Him pull you away,  capture your heart,  and give you a better focus.  Every day,  turn away from evil and turn toward the good.  That’s the way to spiritual freedom and true prosperity in Christ.
