Luke 8:11 (NIV) “…the seed is the word of God.”
The soil is the heart (Luke 8:12). As seed, the word of God needs a congenial soil for it is subject to the laws of growth (Mark 4:26-29). To produce, it must be sown in a prepared and properly conditioned heart and watered in a warm atmosphere of personal devotion. How many people are stuck with a form of religion that is without power (II Tim. 3:5), captivated by “everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does” (I John 2:16). It creates hard soil with no entry point for transforming truth. Pray for hearts to be plowed so that seeds can be sown.
