DAILY DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2020

John 14:6 (NLT)  Jesus told him,  “I am the way,  the truth,  and the life…”

“For thousands of years people have been asking,  ‘What is truth?’   While some philosophers claim that it is impossible to know absolute truth,  others have spent their lives trying to discover what truth is.  Pontius Pilate asked Jesus,  ‘What is truth?’  (John 18:38).”  Earlier,  Jesus had defined the term in the simplest possible way:  “I am …the truth…”  The truth of God is the foundation of all knowledge.  He is authentic,  genuine,  steadfast,  and stable.  And Jesus embodied the truth of God when He was on earth.  The truth is not just information,  it is true teaching or belief  (compare 2 Cor 13:8;  Gal. 5:7;  1 Pet. (I  1:22).  To be born again is  “to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1Tim. 2:4).  Are you walking toward Jesus?  You are headed toward truth.  Are you reading the Bible?  You are reading truth.  Don’t eliminate Jesus from your faith or you will fall headlong into falsehood (I John 5:20).
