DEVOTIONS – FRIDAY MARCH 13, 2020

Luke 22:31 (NIV)  “Simon,  Simon,  Satan has asked to sift you as wheat…”

Satan  “sifts”—i.e.  “he seeks to put a believer through the sieve of the pressure of circumstances and  temptation and thus bring to light any inherent propensities to failure.”  Our problem is that we usually don’t recognize that some pressures are clearly subversive attempts to lead us to abandon our faith,  our calling,  our God-given mission.  “This warfare cannot be fought in the weakness of the flesh and necessitates a strong relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord in obedience to do His will (Luke 6:46).”  Spiritual conflicts necessitate the whole armor of God  “which He supplies,  but which must be put on by the believer himself if it is to be of any use to him  (Eph. 6:11).  It includes both offensive and defensive weapons—all of which are needed to assure victory.”  When have you experienced this kind of  “sifting”  in your faith walk?  How have you responded?
