DEVOTIONS – MONDAY DECEMBER 2, 2019

Luke 1:6  (NIV)   Both of them were upright in the sight of God,  observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly.  But they had no children,  because Elizabeth was barren;  and they were both well along in years.

Both Zechariah and Elizabeth had noble heritages and both walked blamelessly before God;  yet Elizabeth remained barren.  How many years had they trusted God for a child?  How many times had they prayed?  Zechariah and Elizabeth trusted God with their barrenness and continued to live righteously;  and in doing so God honored them in their old age and Gabriel brought the good news that they would have a child.  As we grow older,  our lofty dreams fade with life’s realities.  We deal with the death of goals that are no longer realistic.  As we walk before the Lord in holiness and trust Him with our disappointments,  we will be amazed at the plans God still has for us.  He will bring His purposes to pass.
