Genesis 1:28 (MSG) God blessed them (Adam and Eve): “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill the earth! Take charge (KJV: have dominion).
Jesus prayed, “Your will be done.” And He teaches us to pray for the reinstatement of God’s will on earth as in heaven. “Most of the confusion, agony and distress in our world today exists as a direct result of our having betrayed God’s initial entrusting of earth to us.” We violated our God-given responsibility at the fall of man and have suffered inestimable loss. However, with the coming of Jesus the rule of God was once again being made available to mankind. Jesus showed what can happen when God’s rule enters a situation. We do not need to remain hopeless victims of sin. Jesus put into action the power of God’s rule available in our lives as we repent (turn our thinking and behaving). Jesus confronts the demonic powers of hell. “Christ smashed these powers, making possible the offer of reentry into divine life with God. As followers of Jesus, He charges us to join Him in striking down the satanic powers we encounter (Col. 2:15; Mark 16:17-20). How are you advancing God’s kingdom in this world? “Our first steps in faith are made on the feet of prayer” and not on mere zeal or human programing. God’s power is available, but the privilege and responsibility to pray are ours. Pray for His Kingdom to come.
