DEVOTIONS – MONDAY JULY 15, 2019

Matthew 13:2-3 (NLT)  A large crowd soon gathered around  (Jesus),  so He got into a boat.  Then He sat there and taught as the people stood on the shore.  He told many stories in the form of parables,  such as this one.

Jesus was conscious that with so many people gathered to hear Him,  there existed a diversity of reasons why they had come.  Some came out of mere curiosity and not necessarily out of receptiveness to the truth He would teach.  Much of what He had to say would be lost to them.  And the parable of the sower is a good illustration of the diversity of these listeners.  When we gather to worship on Sunday mornings,  or in our Bible study groups,  or in our small groups,  come prepared to hear what God has prepared for you.  Don’t get distracted.  Lean into the teaching and don’t miss the truth that is ordained to bring you wisdom,  encourage your soul,  or guide you away from temptation and into freedom.  God has something for you.  Watch for it!
