DEVOTIONS – MONDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2019

Matthew 5:21-22  (NIV)  You have heard… ”Do not murder”…  But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment”  (Jesus teaching).

Jesus provides tremendous insight into human behavior in this one verse.  Our thoughts lead to feelings,  and our feelings lead to actions.  How important it is for us to follow the advice given by Paul in Philippians 4:6-9 and learn to think on  “whatsoever is true,  noble,  right,  pure,  lovely,  admirable,  excellent,  and praiseworthy”  so that  “the God of peace will be with (us).”  When you get caught in a whirlwind of confusing,  conflicting,  angry thoughts that lead to feelings of turmoil and potentially,  harmful actions;  stop and pray.  Present your heart and mind to God.  He has the power to replace your anxiety with peace.  He has the wisdom to help you trace your emotions back to their point of origin and to guide you through a process of understanding yourself and others better.  Do not ignore the conflict in your heart;  examine it.  Don’t just live with it and hope it will get better.  Talk to Godly counselors.  Ask questions,  and let the Lord guide you to real solutions.
