DEVOTIONS – MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2019

Matthew 11:25 (NIV) –  At that time Jesus said,  “I praise you,  Father,  Lord of heaven and earth,  because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned,  and revealed them to little children.

Those who were  “wise and learned”  (proud of heart and conceited of mind) were unable to grasp the truths that Jesus taught.  It is the  “little children”  with open,  honest,  and humble hearts who readily hear God’s Word.  The disciples saw supernatural things that others did not see  (Mark 9:1-10)  and received private teaching from Jesus apart from the crowds.  “The extent of truth we receive is to the degree contingent on our capacity and spiritual development”  (John 16:12;  I Cor. 3:1-13;  Matt 6:33).  God will fill those who hunger and thirst after Him  (Matt. 5:6),  but He will not impose Himself upon those who resist and refuse Him.  Pray for an open,  honest,  humble heart that readily hears and receives the Word of the Lord.
