DEVOTIONS – THURSDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2019

Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV)  As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,  and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,  so is my word that goes out from my mouth;  it will not return to me empty,  but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

What a wonderful metaphor for the effect of God’s Word upon open hearts!  God’s words have supernatural power.  Those who open themselves to the instruction and wisdom that He provides will reap spiritual growth,  wisdom,  understanding,  and fruitfulness  (much fruit, fruit that remains – John 14).  As you walk in His Word,  you will become a source of refreshment to others who,  like wilted plants,  need to be watered with grace and truth.  God has promised to provide everything we need pertaining to life and godliness through Christ  (II Peter 1:3).  Hide His Word in your heart every day.
