DEVOTIONS – TUES. MAY 28, 2019

John 15:21 (NIV)

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.

Jesus left his disciples with commandments that were to be obeyed and that would lead to the knowledge of God. The person who has stalled in his faith is usually sidetracked by addictions, or unhealthy relationships that draw him away from his faith, or emotional issues (such as depression), or the lack of self-discipline and self-leadership for his spiritual life. He needs a power encounter with the Holy Spirit to redirect him. Jesus knew that the dark hours during His crucifixion would challenge His disciples’ faith, but if they would keep walking in obedience to His commands they would get to the empty tomb on the other side. If you or someone you know is stuck in a spiritual cul-de-sac, get them moving in obedience. Encourage them to honor the Sabbath by attending church (even if they feel despondent and unable to worship or pray). The act of obedience will position them for a divine encounter. Take them to a Christian therapist who can help them unlock their misbeliefs. If we will walk in obedience, Jesus will bring revelation.
