DEVOTIONS – TUESDAY JANUARY 21, 2020

I Timothy 2:1-2 (NLT)  I urge you,  first of all,  to pray for all people.  Ask God to help them;  intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them.

We must pray with concerted passion in order to  “see the overthrow of those works of hell that manifest themselves in evils such as human trafficking,  bondage to drugs and other horrific oppressions.”  When we pray,  decisive things happen.  “God is at work beyond our sight and sound.  Don’t doubt it.”  Prayer is often immediately effective.  Sometimes we may not know the effectiveness because  “the interlacing of human circumstance is complex.”  Nevertheless,  as we do our part and pray,  God does His part and penetrates the grid of circumstances of all lives involved,  because He wills to release His blessing and salvation,  grace and power,  and answer the requests you have made.”  To intercede is to pray with persistence.  Don’t give up because nothing seems to be changing.  God is at work.  Intercede.
