DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY JULY 10, 2019

I Samuel 30:6  –  David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters,  and they began to talk of stoning him.  But David found strength in the Lord his God.

David was facing a life-threatening situation.  His men were overwhelmed with a sense of loss.  Read the whole story.  Where did David go for wisdom and encouragement?  He  “encouraged himself in the Lord his God”  (KJSV)  and then called for the priest and prayed for wisdom.  In the end David and his army rescued their families.  They recovered everyone and everything.  The turning point in the story rested on David finding strength in the Lord,  encouraging himself when nobody else could do that for him.  Life serves us with overwhelming hardships,  and not everyone has a helpful support system.  When we feel alone,  misunderstood,  or abandoned,  we must remember that we have a Savior who never abandons us.  He will strengthen you and encourage you and give you a plan for how to move forward in times of loss.  Learn from David.  Turn to the Lord.
