DEVOTIONS – WEDNESDAY MARCH 25, 2020

Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)  He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

Who are your life-long traveling companions? These should be the people who encourage you, speak the truth, and impart wisdom and build your faith. But unsafe people (i.e. “fools”) drain us, are needy and dependent and unstable. The person who does life with fools is a person who will eventually be impacted by the behavior of the fool. The fool is the person who knows the difference between right and wrong but doesn’t care. And if he doesn’t care about himself, he certainly won’t care about you. Andy Stanley says in his GUARDRAILS sermon series: “You may never do as they do, but the devastation of their life will affect you whether or not you adopt their way of thinking.” You may say, “I’ll never participate in their ways” but Solomon tells us you will be harmed by the outcome of their behavior. Do you walk with the wise or with fools?
