DAILY DEVOTIONS – MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7, 2020

Mark 10:32 (MSG)  Back on the road,  they set out for Jerusalem.  Jesus had a head start on them,  and they were following,  puzzled and not just a little afraid.  He took the Twelve and began again to go over what to expect next.  “Listen to me carefully.  We’re on our way up to Jerusalem.  When we get there,  the Son of Man will be betrayed to the religious leaders and scholars.  They will sentence him to death.  Then they will hand him over to the Romans,  who will mock and spit on Him,  give him the third degree,  and kill him.  After three days He will rise alive.”

Jesus was blunt but the disciples didn’t seem to hear it.  In verses 35-37,  we read that they were focused on finding their places in an earthy kingdom.  They did not have a clue as to the gravity of what they were headed into.  They were absorbed in ideas of position and power.  So goes the human heart.  Are you discerning the times in which we live?  Be intentional about self-feeding from God’s Word,  connect with a small group,  attend church,  share your faith,  and instruct your children and grandchildren in the ways of the Lord.  This is not a time for earthly distractions.  Tune into the voice of the Lord.  Fix your eyes on Jesus.  Know God’s Word.  Engage fully in faith.
