[I Corinthians 12:27] Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
Paul’s teaching on the importance of all the parts of the human body was a metaphor to help us understand the Body of Christ and the important role that each one of us has within it. We tend to be a bit myopic when it comes to evaluating various roles in the Church. Somehow people have come to believe that anyone who stands on the platform holds highest value while less visible roles are of lesser value. Paul teaches us otherwise. You are of critical importance to the effectiveness of the Church. When you are “missing in action” the Body suffers—we are less effective because you are not in your place of service. It has been a tough year with Covid, but people are coming back to church, and it feels good. Every week more and more people are recognizing the importance of church attendance (“forsake not the assembling of yourselves together” Heb. 10:25) and plugging back into their serving roles. Don’t stay away! God is preparing to pour out a great revival and we are positioning ourselves for it. Fill your lamp with oil and get ready (Matthew 25).
