Exodus 19:9-25 (focus verse 16) (NIV) On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.
God revealed Himself “in His awesome holiness which excludes sinful man from His presence.” When we see someone in the scriptures coming face to face with God, we find them falling on their face and suddenly recognizing the severity of their own sinfulness (Isaiah 6; Revelation 1) and we see God providing a remedy. We simply cannot stand before such power and authority. How our world is oblivious! Salvation requires that we recognize our sin and repent (turn and go the other way). But God is not only holy, He is also love (I John 4:8). That love led Him to interface with humanity through His Son, Jesus, who paid the penalty for our sins. Now He calls us to walk in holiness (Eph. 1:4; Eph. 5:27). How are you doing with that? Does your love for God lead you to live a holy life?
