Exodus 32:15-20 (focus verse 16) (NIV) These tablets were God’s work; the words on them were written by God Himself.
Barely had the final etchings been made into those stone tablets by the holy finger of God when Moses descended the mountain into the depravity of humanity. Man’s violation of divine law resulted in God’s indignation. Moses felt the sound waves. Joshua heard the noise (vs 17). Imagine the impact of leaving a space that was so filled up with God’s presence and power only to descend into the depths of degeneracy and darkness. There would be “hell to pay”! Today, God seeks to write His words on our hearts: “…the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness” (Romans 2:15). And as we grow in faith, we are sensitive to the spiritual dimension and the forces of evil that try to find expression through human beings. We choose to yield to the Holy Spirit, the force of good, and allow Him to find expression through our lives. What joy to partner with God! What heartache with life apart from Him!
