Joshua 3:2-3 (NIV)
After three days the officers went throughout the camp, giving orders to the people: “When you see the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, who are Levites, carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.”
Here on the cusp of the Promised Land, the Children of Israel camped and prepared for their long- awaited entrance. The orders came. They were to follow the Ark—the symbol of God’s Presence (Ex. 37:1-9). It contained God’s Word, a pot of God’s bread (manna), and Aaron’s rod that had budded (Num. 17) representing God’s authority. “Follow the Ark.” It was a foreshadowing of Christ who is the Word become flesh (John 1:14), the bread from heaven (John 6:41), and our divine authority (Col. 1:15-20). They followed the Ark into their inheritance. We follow Christ (our Ark) into our inheritance as well. Are you on the cusp of something new? Do you sense the Lord leading you into “new territory”? Jesus says, “Follow me” (Mathew 4:19).
