Then the master told his servant, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full…”
Those on the original guest list were preoccupied with conflicting interests and excused themselves from the invitation. So, the invitation was extended to others. What does this text teach us? If we do not respond to the invitations that the Lord extends to us to sit at his banquet table, then others will be invited in our place—others with a greater sense of need for the Lord. We will miss our opportunity. Keep the Lord’s invitations at the top of your priority list. Push aside competing interests. Respond to His RSVPs with a hearty “yes,” and then show up wherever He is spreading a table.
