But they soon forgot what He had done and did not wait for His counsel.
God’s complaint is that we fail to wait for His counsel. When we persist without waiting for His guidance, we can suffer terrible consequences (see Joshua 9:3-16). It is easy to lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) when we have many arenas of proficiency. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (NIV). Don’t leave Him out. Keep Him front and center.
