John 16:13 (NIV)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.
The Holy Spirit guides us in a wide variety of ways. He speaks distinct words within your heart (Acts 8:29), or through the words of someone else (your pastor or Christian counselor). He can forbid you to take an intended course of action (Acts 16:6) or restrain you from it (Acts 16:7). He can speak to us through prophetic ministry (Acts 11:27-30). The Lord wants to guide us through every season of life and make us fruitful and fulfilled in meaningful service that glorifies God and edifies others. As the missionary C.T. Studd once said, “Only one life, will soon be past. Only what is done for Christ will last.”
