Psalm 55 (NIV) (Focus verse 16)
But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me.
David’s deepest wounds came from companions and close friends (vs. 12-14). God helped him work through the pain (vs. 22). “But as for me, I trust in You” (vs 23b). When trust is broken we naturally withdraw, fight, or freeze; and simple forgiveness will not restore the trust. A Christian counselor can help you rebuild your “trust muscle.” People can change, but be wise in who you trust. (For more on this topic, read “Necessary Endings” by Henry Cloud.)
