Come near to God and He will come near to you…
The promise is firm. If you draw near to the Lord with a sincere heart, God will draw near to you. Through Jesus we can “draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Heb. 10:22). Times of opportunity to seek God come, but the opportunity can be limited (Luke 13:24-25). So “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near” (Is. 55:6). That means, when God’s Presence draws near, RESPOND. Stop whatever you are doing. Turn your attention toward Him. Respect His approach. Give Him your first priority. He is worth your full-on attention. Center on Him. You might not have the same opportunity later, so don’t hesitate to respond. Also, God might give to others the opportunity that you reject (Isa. 65:1-2).
