I Peter 1:12b (NIV) Even angels long to look into these things.
Angels are well-informed about many aspects of God’s universal kingdom. They are very intelligent but they labor under certain limitations. Peter tells us that they long to explore the wonders of God’s grace that are revealed in God’s redemptive plan. They look at us and wonder and marvel at God’s amazing grace and the lengths to which He went to engage His redemption plan. I think they wonder why a world of people who are so deeply loved by God would behave as they do! How could we turn our backs on such love and pursue life apart from God? How could we buy into the deceitfulness of Satan, the “father of all lies”? Remember this: angels are not omniscient (all knowing). They are merely created beings; and that means that Satan is not omniscient either. He cannot read your mind. He has had plenty of time to study human behavior and learn how to discover our weaknesses and tempt us to sin. He is firmly opposed to God’s plans and purposes and people. However, we have access to the power of the Holy Spirit (who is omniscient). When we don’t know what to do, He knows what to do. The angels stand back in wonder of it all. Give praise to the God who loves us so lavishly.
