Luke 2:8 (NIV) And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
The religious orthodoxy of the day looked down on shepherds because they were unable to perform the ceremonial washings necessary to fulfill the rules and regulations of the law. Yet God sent the announcement of Christ’s birth to them first! The story of angels appearing to the shepherds reminds us that God’s invitation to celebrate Christ’s birth extends to everyone. As we welcome Jesus into our lives, the angels’ words become reality: God is glorified, peace comes to earth, and God’s favor rests on us. Today, glorify God in everything you do then you will experience His peace on earth.
