I Thessalonians 5:5 (NLT) For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.
“Nothing is more crippling to effective prayer than not having confidence in our relationship with God.” When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He began with the words: Our Father… “We are given grounds for confidence in prayer on the strength of a Father-child relationship, which the Bible says is established and secured through Christ (I John 5:14-15). Sadly, the “father” concept has been marred for many due to disappointing earthly relationships. But God transcends even the finest father; and He is able to redeem us from those broken images or painful memories. Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son illustrates the character of our Heavenly Father who yearns for us to come home, embraces us when we do, receives us, forgives us, restores us, and authorizes us with the family name (Jesus) so that we can express authoritative prayers. So pray confidently. “No matter what we fight, either the powers of hell or our own weaknesses, eventual victory will be ours.”
