We live in a quick-fix and easy-answer society. Patient endurance is not a high value when we can pick up our phone and get instant answers. We want to fix the problem and jump back into life as usual. But where, then, does patient endurance get developed? How quickly does our faith fail if God isn’t at our beck and call? Where does character get developed? Fasting and prayer lassos our souls into a place where we can sit before the Lord and actually meditate on His Word, listen for His voice and recognize it when He speaks. God waits for us to wait for Him. He waits for us to give Him our full attention.
