Deuteronomy 31:9-13 (NIV) (read it all) (focus verse 11b)
…read this law before them in their hearing…
The last instruction that Moses gave to Israel’s priests was for them to be responsible to teach the people God’s laws, from generation to generation so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law. Their children…must hear it and learn… (vs 12-13). Today, are people Biblically illiterate and staying engaged in a life-long study of the Bible? Do you float on memories of what you were taught as a child or are you engaged in an active study of God’s Word? Expository studies (verse by verse) of the Bible are necessary if we are to be truly “literate.” How are you incorporating that spiritual discipline into your life?
