Deuteronomy 1:8 (NIV) “Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors…”
Here on the cusp of the Promised Land and just one month before entering it, Moses gave the word of the Lord to the Israelites. It was a series of discourses that repeated the Law to a generation which had been born and had grown up in the wilderness and, therefore, was not adequately familiar with the Sinai Law-giving experience (except for Caleb and Joshua). It was historical and legislative. It reviewed certain events in Israel’s history, and it enunciated statutes, ordinances, and regulations. Jesus had no doubt about the authenticity of this book because He quoted from it in His conflict with Satan (Matt. 4:1-11). It calls for obedience from God’s people if they are to live in covenant with Him. In the New Covenant (New Testament) Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). He also said, “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in His love” (John 15:10). Are we walking in loving obedience to the Lord today? A covenant relationship is reciprocal and leads to great blessings. God has planted a divine destiny in your DNA. You will find it as you walk in obedience to Him.
