Mark 13:2 (Passion Translation) As Jesus was leaving the temple courts, one of his disciples came to Him and said, “Teacher, look at these magnificent buildings! And what tremendous stones were used to build all this!” Jesus turned to them and said, “Take a good look at all these enormous buildings, for I’m telling you there will not be one stone left upon another. It will all be leveled!”
Jesus’ prophecy was fulfilled by the Roman prince Titus in AD 70, who destroyed the Temple. Consider the temporary state of things once thought indestructible. Kingdoms rise and fall, but “the word of the Lord stands forever” (I Peter 1:25a). So wrap your life around something indestructible and imperishable—God’s Word. Know it. Study it. Let its words come alive in you. You have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God (I Pet. 1:23 NLT). If your life feels like it has been “leveled” lately—remember, you will not collapse because you are built upon a rock (Matt. 7:24-25).
