I Kings 3:5, 9 (NIV) (Focus verse 9a)
So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?
Solomon asked and God answered. God is pleased to respond to our requests for “an understanding heart,” (a “hearing heart”). Every phase of life brings opportunities for new lessons to be learned, higher perspective to be gained, compassionate hearts to be deepened. Do we grow wiser, or do we grow bitter? What do we see, how much have we learned, how far do we want to go in our relationship with God? Be intentional. Ask God for “a discerning heart” (NIV), “an understanding heart” (KJV & NLT), “a God-listening heart” (The Message).
