John 15: 12 (Passion Translation) So this is my command: Love each other deeply, as much as I have loved you.
Christ’s last words to his disciples are worth studying in depth. Though they did not understand all that He said, He planted in their memory words that the Holy Spirit would bring back to their thoughts in the coming days. Love is the most powerful expression of our faith. As we “continually let His love nourish our hearts” (15:9) it will influence our world view and our responses. We will forgive ourselves as Christ has forgiven us. We will release people from our need for them to be like us. The Spirit will speak life-giving words through us to those in pain. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with God’s love (Rom. 5:5).
